Brahmas Advance, Cowboys Win Big In Today’s Sports Update

After being down, at one time, 18-8, the Paul Pewitt Brahmas came back to beat East Bernard, 24-18 in the state semi-final game in Waco. It was 18-16 at the half, but the Pewitt defense pitched a shutout in the second half, and the offense used time-consuming ball control to come away with the win. The Brahmas will now take on the Gunter Tigers Thursday night at 7:00 pm at AT&T Stadium for the 3A Division II State Championship. Coming into Sunday, The Dallas Cowboys were 0-6 against teams with a winning record. That streak is over after a 44-21 win against the Los Angeles Rams. After being gashed for over 250 yards on the ground during the playoff game in January the Cowboys defense only allowed 22 rushing yards on Sunday. Dallas, on the other hand, had 263 yards on the ground. Tony Pollard finished with 131 yards on the ground and one TD. Zeke finished with 117 with 2 TD. Dallas will play at Philadelphia this Sunday afternoon. Both teams come in at 7-7. A Cowboys win would clinch the NFC East. Philly cannot win the division if they win.

LSU Tiger quarterback Joe Burrow was awarded the 2019 Heisman Trophy on Saturday night. He won by the widest margin in history with 90% of the votes. It is the first time in 60 years that an LSU Tiger won it. Billy Cannon was the winner in 1959. The LSU quarterback on Saturday won the Heisman Trophy, given to the most outstanding player in college football. James “Radio” Kennedy, a man with an intellectual disability who befriended a high school football team in South Carolina and was the inspiration for the 2003 film “Radio,” died Sunday morning according to former T.L. Hanna football coach Harold Jones. Kennedy, who had been battling health problems, was 73. Jones said Kennedy died at a hospice facility in Anderson, South Carolina.
