Busy HS Baseball and Softball Weekend Plus Rangers Suffer 2nd Straight Walk-Off Loss

Paris – High School baseball playoffs begin tomorrow while softball teams pick up with the Area round. The North Lamar Pantherette softball team will take on the Crandall Lady Pirates on MIX 107.7, beginning with game one tomorrow at 6pm. Game two will be Saturday at 2 with game three to follow if necessary. All games will be play at Grand Saline high school. Meanwhile, the North Lamar boys play a one game playoff against Spring Hill on KOYN 93.9 at 7pm tomorrow at Spring Hill high school. The Paris Wildcats will take on the Gilmer Buckeyes. All games can be heard live on 101.9 KBUS starting with game one Friday evening at 6pm in Atlanta. Game two is Saturday at 11am and game three will follow if necessary. And the Detroit Lady Eagles begin the 2nd round against Beckville tomorrow in Hughes Springs at 6.

Mount Pleasant – The Mt. Pleasant Lady Tigers will take on Manfield Legacy in a three game series with all games to be played at Lindale High School. Game one is scheduled for Friday at 7pm. Game two is Saturday at 11am and game three will follow if necessary. The Hughes Springs Lady Mustangs will take on Van Alstyne. The area round for the Lady Mustangs can be heard on STAR 96.9. Game one of the three game series is scheduled for 7:30 pm tomorrow. Game two is Saturday at 2 and game three will follow if necessary.

Meanwhile, in baseball the Hughes Springs baseball team faces New Boston at home Friday night at 6pm. The Gilmer Buckeyes will take on the Paris Wildcats to open post season play. The two teams will meet this weekend for a three game series in Atlanta. Game one is Friday night at 6pm. And the Chapel Hill Red Devils face Redwater in game one tomorrow at Redwater at 7:30

Sulphur Springs – Starting tomorrow night local softball teams play the area round of the post season, while baseball teams begin the playoffs with the bi-district round. The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats will take on Waxahachie in a one game playoff scheduled to be played at North Forney High School. The game will be Saturday night with first pitch at 6pm. The Lone Oak Lady Buffalos will take on the Redwater Lady Dragons. And the Commerce Lady Tigers will face off against the Hooks Lady Hornets at NTCC in Mt. Pleasant. Game one is Friday at 4pm with game two to follow. Game three if necessary would be Saturday at 10am.

Meanwhile, in baseball Cumby faces Avery at Prairiland on Friday at 7pm. Sulphur Bluff will be in Mt. Pleasant against Maud with game one at 6 tomorrow night. And Como Pickton will take on James Bowie at Chapel Hill in Mt. Pleasant. The series opener tomorrow is at 5:30.

Last night the Texas Rangers experience a little Deja Vu against the Toronto Blue Jays, losing 4-3. It’s the second straight game the Rangers lose on a walk off from the Jays. Texas slips to 15-13 on the season and sit in 2nd place in the AL West. They’ll try to salvage a split in the forth game of the set with Toronto tonight on KPLT 1490am and 96.3fm with first pitch at 6:07.

The Dallas Stars play game four of the NHL Western Conference Semi-Finals against St. Louis. The Blues lead the series 2 games to 1. It’ll be close to game time before Stars coach Lindy Ruff announces whether he’ll start Antii Niemi or Kari Lehtonen in goal. Puck drop tonight is at 7pm.

And in the NBA playoffs another 3-point record falls, however the Golden State Warriors were off last night. It was the Cleveland Cavaliers who knocked down the most three pointers in a single game in NBA history with 25. The Cavs would go on to win 123-98 and take a 2-0 series lead over the Atlanta Hawks.
