Carpenter’s Bluff Bridge Closing Traffic Dec. 12-14

txdot

PARIS – Texas Department of Transportation officials today announced they would close Carpenter’s Bluff Bridge across the Red River on FM 120 in Grayson County for maintenance inspection Monday through Wednesday (Dec 12-14).

During that time a maintenance contractor using a control truck with a boom will inspect the underside of the bridge. Routine bridge inspections are conducted every two years on highway bridges. Since the bridge is one lane, the investigation will require the closure of the bridge each day from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm. The bridge will reopen to traffic each day after 5:00 pm, TxDOT officials said.

TxDOT put in place message boards alerting travelers to the closure on both sides of the bridge Dec. 5 and barricades will block both ends of the bridge to traffic during daylight hours during the inspection period.

Those who frequently use this bridge should use an alternate route while this work is underway. TxDOT officials asked drivers to pay particular attention to all signs, barricades and traffic controls, and to reduce their speed as they approach work zones. They should also avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating, drinking, or car audio or navigation systems when driving.
