Choctaw County Woman Drowns in Pond Near Sawyer

A Choctaw County woman has died after drowning in a pond on her property north of Sawyer. Troopers say 54 year old Roxie Merriott had walked down to the pond to relax, and when her husband went to check on her he found her face down in the water. She was transported to a funeral home in Hugo and an autopsy has been ordered.
