People magazine claims Chris Lane and Bachelor star Lauren Bushnell are engaged. He tells People magazine, “I knew she wouldn’t want some elaborate crazy proposal, so, I decided to keep it pretty casual. I asked her parents for different places in Portland I could potentially take her to, but after a lot of thought, I decided doing it at the family cookout would be the most laid-back setting and that she’d appreciate the simplicity of me proposing to her in her parents’ backyard. I was initially worried that doing it on Father’s Day might not be the best move, but her dad, Dave, said that it could only add to his Father’s Day and that’s when I decided Sunday, June 16 was the day,” he continues. “Shout out to Lauren’s parents, Dave and Kris, for having the yard in tip-top shape!”
Garth Brooks tells Billboard magazine that he called Blake Shelton to record “Dive Bar” after he watched him perform ”God’s Country” on TV. ”I was watching the ACMs this year, and there was one performance that really hit me hard: Blake Shelton’s “God’s Country.” I thought, “I’m feeling something here that’s drawing me right into this television.” So I just reached out for him. He was so sweet on the phone. The last thing I said was, “Hey, man, I don’t want to put you on the spot, but we got a song that might be a pretty cool duet. I want to go on record saying I did not think it would sound like this. I didn’t know what I was expecting, but I’ve never heard him sing like that before. … We recorded together and it was fun to watch him. My biggest shock in all of this is I think I know my voice and I think I know his, but there were several times I looked over at Matt, the engineer, when we were mixing it going, “Is that him or me?”
Lee Brice tells The Frederick News-Post that his music was shaped by the women in his life. “All my aunts had a role in it, really – my mama and all her sisters. I grew up listening to them sing … Aunt Henrietta was the one that was playing the piano. That’s what I grew up listening to my whole life. She is one of the sisters with the spunk and the funk. She’s got the soul. She had taught me – when I was seven – a couple of chords on the piano, and from there is where I’ve gone on my own. All I needed was a little spot to start from, and to this day, Aunt Henrietta is one of the most soulful players and singers that I have ever met or heard in my life.”
Kelsea Ballerini tells Yahoo that she never wants to lose touch with who she is.“I made a promise to myself that when I got signed as an artist, that I would be the same person on Instagram as I was out to dinner with my friends as I was on stage. Because my favorite artists are the ones that you feel like you can reach out and touch, not the ones that are in a glass box. I feel like my job is to be positive and encouraging and empowering to women. And that’s kind of what I speak about through my music, and that’s what I use my platform for and what I feel really, really strongly about, and I feel like that’s the influence I can make.”
Maren Morris tells Playboy magazine that posing topless for their latest issue was fun. ”Doing Playboy has been a really fun challenge. I’m trying to do more things that scare me. Every year I’m trying to peel back my layers emotionally—and I guess physically.”
Maren Morris says her husband, Ryan Hurd, loves her Playboy photoshoot. “Even with Playboy, he was like, ‘That’s really hot.’ It’s awesome to be with somebody who is equal and isn’t trying to make you feel like a skank because you’re proud of your body – someone who’s not watering down your ideologies for patriarchal and bullshit standards that women in country music have been locked into for the past several decades.”
Blake Shelton spent his 43rd birthday yesterday taking a behind-the-scenes tour of the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago. Gwen Stefani shot video of a sea lion kissing him on the cheek.
