CHRISTMAS AT THE MAXEY HOUSE – Saturday (Dec 8) from 11:00 am until 4:00 pm. It focuses on the Longs’ Christmas traditions this year. Sam Bell Maxey Long is Maxey’s great-nephew, and he and his wife Lala inherited the home in 1908.

Visitors will step into the Longs’ decorated home as they are in the midst of celebrating Christmas just as World War I ends. Artifacts once belonging to the Longs will be on display throughout the house, helping to tell the real stories of their Christmas traditions and involvement on the home front during the war. During the program, visitors will have numerous opportunities to participate in Christmas crafts and traditions as they explore the newly renovated historic house.

On Sunday (Dec 9) at 6:30 pm, there will be a free public showing “The Least of These” in honor of the First Christian Church’s 150th Anniversary.
