Clarksville ISD Superintendent Kermit Ward
Clarksville ISD is considering going to a four-day school week. Superintendent Dr. Kermit Ward says the goal is to attract and keep teachers. He says they have to replace just over a third of their teachers every year. And few people are applying. He conducted a survey, and 80 percent of Clarksville’s teachers like the idea of a Monday through Thursday classroom schedule. He says Clarksville’s school days already run longer than most districts, and they would only have to add about 15 minutes a day to make up the difference.
