Commerce Police Execute Raid On Suspected Meth Lab

Vigilant neighbors and an investigation involving several law enforcement agencies led to the finding of a methamphetamine lab and evidence of narcotics in the 2800 block of Bois D Arc in Commerce.

Just after 2:30 p.m., officers with the Commerce Police Department responded to a suspicious circumstances call to the 2800 block of Bois D. Arc.  After a period of investigation by officers of several law enforcement agencies and vigilant watchful neighbors, the Commerce Police Department was able to obtain and execute a search warrant on a residence on the south end of Bois D’ Arc Street in regards to drug activity. It was learned that the house was occupied by 8 to 10 individuals. 1 person was taken into custody for a warrant on an unrelated charge. Upon executing the search warrant officers encountered a ‘Methamphetamine Lab’ that was believed active at that time. Officers withdrew for their safety and were able to contact a private Hazardous Material company to respond to the scene to handle the volatile chemicals. Once rendered safe, officers continued their search and seized evidence of manufacturing and the sale of narcotics. The residence has been deemed unsafe for living by the Commerce Environmental Officer and will need further cleanup for habitation. Detectives with the Commerce Police Department, Greenville Narcotics officers, Hunt County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics unit and the District Attorney’s Office are conducting a joint investigation as to the charges to be filed.
