County Deputy Killed

Prowlers shot and killed Travis County Deputy Sheriff Craig Hutchinson in his backyard at Round Rock. Deputy Hutchinson planned to retire in September after 32 years of service. Known as “Hutch,” he radioed after going off-duty that he spotted the prowlers and asked for Round Rock police. The officers responding found him at 1:35 Monday morning lying near a creek in his backyard.
