Brett Young tells Variety magazine that he almost appeared on ”The Voice” before record executives called and wanted to meet him because they liked his work as a demo singer. ”A month before I signed my record deal, I was all set to come back to L.A. and do “The Voice.” They had undercast for that season, and I basically got an email that said “You don’t even have to audition. You’ll go straight to TV. You’re on the blinds. Can you come out and sign the paperwork and do the psych eval?” I did all that, and that’s right when A&R people started wanting meetings with the demo singer. I walked outside and I called [the “Voice” production] and let ‘em know I couldn’t make it.”

Keith Urban tells Rolling Stone that Johnny Cash had inspired him to become a country star when he was five years old. “I remember the roar when the guy walked out on stage. It never left me, the power of that when he played guitar and sang. He was immediately hooked. “It was the recognition of this thing I was meant to do. Like, this feels familiar.”

Scotty McCreery tells Hollywoodlife.com that this year’s American Idol contestants need to be unique. “For me, I was a goofy looking baby-faced 16-year-old that had a deep voice and that’s what I wanted to showcase so I sang Josh Turner and they saw that so they moved me onto the next round. For other folks, it doesn’t have to be deep voice, it could be a really high voice, it could be just a growl, a grit to your voice that you have but just showcase what makes you unique.”

Billboard magazine claims Tim McGraw, who collapsed a week ago on stage from dehydration, posted a picture of himself yesterday spearfishing underwater. He captioned the shot with ”hydrating”

Thomas Rhett tells #AXEStagePass that he is his own fashion icon. “My style changes everyday. Whether I am watching a movie or whether I’m watching a TV show and I see something that I like, I’m gonna try to incorporate that into my style. I’ve always been a stylish kid and even going into high school and in college, I’ve always loved trying new things, just kind of like in my music.”

Music Row magazine claims Devin Dawson is going to open for Tim McGraw and Faith Hill on their summer tour.
