Hospitalizations in Texas from COVID-19 are now up 50% since Oct. 1. The state today reported 4,782 lab-confirmed COVID hospitalizations. Hospitalizations have been climbing almost every single day for the last month. We were down to 3,081 at one point in Sept. The state still reports having 12,019 available hospital beds to deal with growing cases, and accessible, Texas has just over 950 ICU beds. On Monday, Texas had about 1,100 available ICUs. So over the last seven days, Texas has seen an average of 4,386 people hospitalized with lab-confirmed COVID. In the previous seven days, we were averaging 3,779 patients. Before that, it was 3,291.
