Cowboys Defeat Bears Plus HS Football Results

 

Paris – In high school football from over the weekend the Cooper Bulldogs pick up their first win of the season 24-22 over Prairiland to open district play. The North Lamar Panthers hand Canton their first loss 42-12. The Rivercrest Rebels remains undefeated with a 24-6 win over Alba-Golden. The Paris Wildcats are overpowered by 2nd ranked Argyle 47-10. The Chisum Mustangs were shut out against S&S Consolidated 27-0. Honey Grove falls to Cumby 30-6. The Clarksville Tigers get throttled by Jefferson 70-0 and Detroit loses a defensive battle to Simms Bowie 8-6.

Mount Pleasant – In high school football from over the weekend the Rivercrest Rebels stay unbeaten after defeating Alba-Golden 24-6. The Paul Pewitt Brahmas throttle Ore City 70-43. And the Gilmer Buckeyes win a shootout over Nacogdoches 56-52. The Mt. Pleasant Tigers fall in overtime to the Hallsville Bobcats 24-20.

The Pittsburg Pirates lose to Tatum 49-21 and Mt. Vernon drops their game to Springtown 37-17.

Sulphur Springs – In high school football from over the weekend the Sulphur Springs Wildcats win their district opener 49-21 over the Pine Tree Pirates. The Cooper Bulldogs win a rivalry game over Prairiland 24-22. Cumby remains unbeaten after defeating Honey Grove 30-6. Rains crushes Redwater 54-14 and Winnsboro dominated Quitman 36-6. Como-Pickton drops their game to Wolfe City 27-12 and the Commerce Tigers fall to Farmersville 31-21.

Last night the Dallas Cowboys improve to 2-1 on the season with a 31-17 win over the Chicago Bears. The Cowboys ran for 200 yards and three rushing touchdowns, including 140 yards from rookie Ezekiel Elliott. Quarterback Dak Prescott threw for 250 yards and a touchdown as well. The Cowboys are tied for 2nd in the NFC East with the New York Giants.

The Texas Rangers fall to the Oakland A’s yesterday afternoon 7-1, but win two of three in the weekend series. The Rangers are 92-64 on the season and are tied with the Boston Red Sox for the best record in the American League. Texas will begin a three game set tonight with the National League’s Milwaukee Brewers. First pitch tonight [on KPLT 1490am and 96.3fm] is set for 7:05pm.

And in college football Alabama remains at the top of the rankings, while Ohio State, Louisville, Michigan and Clemson round out the top five. Houston is number six. Texas A&M is bumped up to number 9. Baylor jumps to 13. TCU is 21 followed by Texas at 22.
