Cowboys Lose Third Straight Plus HS Football Recap In Today’s Sports Update

With the exception of Detroit, Honey Grove, and Clarksville, all schools suffered big losses on Friday night. Honey Grove blanked Wolfe City 26-0. It was Detroit all over Overton 44-8. Clarksville has a come from behind victory as they defeated Maud 42-40.

As far as the other games, the Paris Wildcats were shut out for the first time in over three years. They fell to Celina 34-0.

Number one Argyle handed North Lamar a 63-14 loss. North Lamar is now 0-7 on the season. Blue Ridge beat Cooper 20-6. It was Bells all over Prairiland 49-12. And Chisum fell to Leonard 62-21.

In volleyball, North Lamar beat Liberty Eylau in straight sets for their third straight win. They are off on Tuesday before a rematch with Paris High on Friday night.

Speaking of the Lady Cats, they beat Pleasant Grove in straight sets to remain undefeated in district play. They will play Pittsburg on Tuesday night to start the second half of the district.

The No. 20 Texas A&M University-Commerce football team jumped out to an early 31-7 lead and earned a comprehensive 54-28 victory over Midwestern State. With the win, the Lions move to 5-1 overall and 3-0 in the Lone Star Conference. The Lions face a stern test next week, traveling to Stephenville for the President’s Cup matchup against No. 4 Tarleton. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. on October 19.

The Dallas Cowboys are reeling after dropping their third game in a row. This time to the previously winless Jets 24-22.

New York jumped out to a 21-6 halftime lead and then held on in the second half.

The Houston Texans continued their winning ways with a 31-24 road win over Patrick Mahomes and Kansas City. They will face the Colts on the road Sunday at 12noon. 

In Major League Baseball, the Houston Astros took the Yankees 11 innings where the struggling Carlos Correa came up with a walk-off homer, to give Houston a 3-2 win. The series is tied 1-1. Game 3 is tomorrow at 4:08pm on FS1.

Meanwhile, the Washington Nationals have a 2-0 lead on St. Louis. The Nationals have only given up one run in two games. Game 3 is tonight in Washington at 8:08 pm on TBS.

A big change in the AP College Football poll.  Alabama is No. 1, LSU shoots up to No. 2, Clemson is 3rd, Ohio State is 4th, Oklahoma is at No. 5, Wisconsin moves to 6th, Penn State is 7th, Notre Dame is No. 8, Florida is 9th, and Georgia drops from 3rd to 10th. Texas drops to No. 15, Baylor is at 18 and SMU is No. 19.

Simone Biles broke the record for medals by a gymnast at the world championships by winning the balance beam and floor exercise Sunday. Biles won her 24th medal on the beam, breaking a tie with Belarusian men’s gymnast Vitaly Scherbo, and added her 25th less than two hours later.
