Two people were killed late Thursday night in a crash on Hwy 271 near Talco involving a Mt. Pleasant boys track team school bus returning from a track meet in Paris. Initial indications are that an 18 wheeler crossed the centerline, and sideswiped the bus which then went out of control. The truck then hit a car behind the bus. The car’s driver, assistant girls track team Coach Angela Beard was killed as was the driver of the 18 wheeler. Another coach and at least one student were believed to have been flown to a Tyler hospital. The driver of the bus was said to be in in critical condition. At least 17 other people were transported to hospitals in Titus, Camp and Hopkins Counties and some of the injuries were believed to be serious. The girls track team bus was several miles behind the boys bus and was not involved in the crash.
