It is the first day for early voting in the May 7 local elections and the state constitution. One of the proposed amendments to the Texas constitution deals with school district property taxes for homeowners who are elderly or disabled. The other addresses the homestead exemption amount. School districts hold board member and bond issue elections, and several cities have city council elections. Early voting runs through May 3.
