East Texas Man Charged In Fatal Boating Crash

A 31-year-old East Texas man has been charged in connection with the boating-death of a 14-year-old boy on Lake Palestine. Jeffrey Joe Hampton, of Tyler, was indicted for manslaughter and accident involving death or serious bodily injury. Roberto Carlos Bermejo Hernandez, a Tyler ISD student, died after he was struck by the boat while playing in the water at Lakeway Harbor with friends and family.
