An East Texas woman charged with murder in the death of her toddler son has reached a plea bargain with prosecutors. April Lynn Gibbons, 35 years old, of Longview, pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter and was sentenced to 17 years in prison. Investigators say Gibbons gave her twin sons full adult doses of Melatonin, Dimetapp, and Ibuprofen in order to get them to go to sleep. She also pleaded guilty to injury to a child, in connection with the child who survived and got two years in state jail. Gibbons’ parents also face charges in the case.
