An East Texas State Senator has filed a bill that would help increase access to broadband internet for rural areas in Texas. The plan proposed by Senator Robert Nichols of Jacksonville involves the help of non-profit electric co-ops. The co-ops have more than 300,000 miles of distribution lines that could be tapped into for high-speed internet support.
