An East Texas woman, whose murder conviction was sent back to a district court in Panola County because of a judge’s faulty charge to the jury, has been released on $5,000 bond. Deborah Smiley McFadden was found guilty of the murder of her boyfriend and sentenced to 40 years in prison in February of 2017. The Sixth Court of Appeals sent her conviction back to the original trial court.
