A new face will soon be seen leading the North Lamar Panthers. Coach Aaron Emeyabbi (EM-EE-yah-bee) was the name recommended by the search committee and presented to the School Board by Superintendent John McCullough. Approval was given during last night’s board meeting to name Emeyabbi as the new athletic director and head football coach.
Emeyabbi has called Ferris, Texas, home for the past five year where he has been athletic director and head football coach for the Ferris Yellowjackets. His philosophy is for the young men and women he coaches to grow as individuals and develop maturity, character and a sense of fair play. This success, he believes, begins with coaches who not only prepare players on the field, but arm them with traits that will serve everyone no matter their career path.
Emeyabbi and his wife, Katie, have five children: “four on earth and one in heaven,” says Aaron. They have two boys, Kobey (14) and Thorpe (2), and three girls, Lily (9), Brynn (7) and Nellie, who was stillborn after 17 weeks.
