PARIS – Texas Department of Transportation Department officials today noted that the comment period for its Loop 286 study remains open through May 31.
TxDOT’s April 25 public meeting on the study provided interested citizens a chance to view proposed project schematics and plans, and provide their ideas/comments in writing.
The information presented at the public meeting is also available online at http://loop286.com. Those who could not attend the first public meeting can also provide their comments/ideas via an online survey available on the Loop 286 website, officials said.

2nd Annual LIVE UNITED 5k Run/Walk Benefiting the United Way of Lamar County is happening Saturday, May 18th at the Trail de Paris. 5k starts at 8am/ Registration starts 7am – $25 pre-registration (until May 1st) / $35 day of race. The 2019 City of Paris Residential Clean-Up
From Saturday, May 18th through Saturday, May 25th, the City of Paris will have two drop-off locations for Paris residents to dump trash at no cost!  We will be open each day from 8:00am to 5:00pm.
The drop-off locations are as follows: 1100 Block Bonham at the Depot…Red River Valley Fairgrounds (enter from Gene Watson Blvd between Hickory and Clement).
Please bring your current water bill to unload.  Bins will be monitored and maintained by City of Paris staff.
We cannot accept hazardous materials such as paint, chemicals or oil; however, you may drop off tires, batteries and appliances without compressors.
The Compost Site will be open:
Wednesday, May 22nd from 9:00am – 11:45am and 1:15pm – 4:30pm
Thursday and Friday, May 23rd and May 24th from 8:30am – 11:45am and 1:15pm – 4:30pm
Saturday and Sunday, May 25th and May 26th from 8:00am – 5:00pm

Northeast Texas Classic Car Show Saturday June 8th 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM.. Each year in June the Red River Valley Veterans Memorial host the Northeast Texas Classic Car Show at the Love Civic Center. Typically there are 190+ show cars in attendance. There are large trophies given out for each class. Friday night at 6:00 PM cars in attendance gets ticket for a chance on a TV and then go on a Cruise around Paris while viewing points of interest on a printed map along with details. Upon return everyone gathers at the Pavilion to listen to some good music and a drawing for the TV.
There are all kinds of door prizes that are given away as well as entertainment throughout the day. Cars will be judged and class trophies awarded mid afternoon as well as Paris Picks where anyone who sponsors a trophy can award a Paris Pick to the car of their choosing. Several food vendors are on hand.
The Novice Volunteer Fire Department will have their 2nd Annual Fish Fry Fundraiser on June 8, 2019 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM held at Novice Baptist Church, 13796 FM 195, Paris, TX 75462 (next door to fire department).  $10.00, ages 11 and up, $6.00 for Children under age 10.  We will have fish, hush puppies, pinto beans, cole slaw, french fries and desserts.  Come and support your community and get a great meal at a great price!
