Hopkins County Health Fair

Modern medicine and healthy blood supply go hand-in-hand.

Hopkins County Employee Health Fair, CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital to host blood drives to save lives

SULPHUR SPRINGS, Texas (Mar 3, 2020) – Today’s online communications platforms, like social media, are filled with stories about people in need of medical care and searching for helpful resources, including financial assistance. The volume of stories posted represents a fraction of the real patient scenarios in which someone requires a blood transfusion. These modern medical miracles rely on safe and sufficient blood supply. Here are a few of the reasons blood donations are requested so often:

  • We cannot manufacture blood;
  • We cannot order blood from the local pharmacy;
  • blood can only come from generous blood donors who want to help others;
  • blood donated has a shelf life and must be replenished.

Hopkins County Employee Health Fair is hosting a blood drive from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm Wednesday (Mar 4), at 1200 Houston St. in the parking lot of the Sulphur Springs Civic Center on the Carter BloodCare bus. For more information, or to schedule an appointment time, contact Kelly Kalson at (903) 438-4009.

CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital of Sulphur Springs is also hosting a blood drive from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm Saturday (Mar 7), at 115 Airport Road in the parking lot on the Carter BloodCare bus. For more information, or to schedule an appointment time, contact Lanie Wright at (903) 571-9667.

Each one of us must begin to view blood donation as essential support for a modern, high-tech health care system. For information on donor eligibility and appointments, call or text 800-366-2834 or visit carterbloodcare.org.
