The Lamar County Genealogical Society’s next meeting will be at 7:00 pm on Tuesday (Nov 12). Our speaker will be Marynell Anderson Bryant.

Marynell has been actively involved in genealogy since 1980. She has served three terms as president of Texas State Genealogical Society and is currently chair of the Heritage Certificate program. She is a member of the TSGS Speakers Bureau and offers more than 25 program topics that society meetings, workshops, and seminars can use.

In addition to TSGS, Marynell is the past president of her chapter of US Daughters of 1812, served as state fourth vice president, and will be state registrar next year. She is regent of her DAR chapter, regent of her Daughters of American Colonists chapter, and registrar of her chapter of US Daughters of 1812.

She is an eighth-generation Texan descending from Bailey Anderson, Sr., a Revolutionary War veteran from Virginia and South Carolina, who came to Texas in 1819.

She taught journalism for 35 years at Sulphur Springs High School, sponsoring the school newspaper, yearbook, and weekly broadcast program. She earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in journalism from Texas A&M University-Commerce.

You do not have to be a member to attend meetings of the Society, so please come and bring a friend. The Lamar County Genealogical Society and Library is at the south entrance to the historic Santa Fe Depot, 1135 Bonham Street, Paris, Texas.
