Would you want to help your community in times of disaster? The American Red Cross is looking for people who would be willing to be trained to help their community prepare and respond to emergencies. This includes aiding victims of house fires, tornadoes, and floods, as well as setting up shelters and teaching kids about preparing for disasters. If you might be interested, please come to a volunteer information meeting on Thursday, September 20 at 4:30 pm at the Mt Pleasant Public Library (601 N. Madison in Mt Pleasant). This is for residents of Franklin, Morris, and Titus counties. For information, go to http://www.redcross.org/volunteer, or contact Alan McMillin (409/289-1255); amcmillin53@hotmail.com
