Experts Dispatched To Texas DSHS Fixing Coronavirus Test Coding Problems

Texas says coding errors from two labs and a system upgrade on Aug. 1 caused an artificial 24.5% positivity rate. The rate dropped to 16% Thursday and Friday. The Texas Department of State Health Services has brought in a “data team” to determine why the positivity rate of COVID-19 tests spiked to record levels in the first two weeks of August’. The positivity rate is the percentage of COVID trials that came back positive.
