A Fannin County man convicted of shooting his wife in the head has been sentenced to five years in prison after his conviction for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Prosecutors say Michael Piland shot his wife at their home in Dodd City in 2016. Piland’s wife survived but has permanent disabilities. Piland claimed the shooting was accidental.
