Fatal Crash At Lindale And Marshall

 

Saturday (May 26) just before 1:00 am, Troopers responded to a one-vehicle fatal crash on US-80 W. in Harrison County, three miles east of Hallsville. The driver of a 2015 Dodge Ram 1500, identified as Lawrence C. Walls, 49, of Marshall, was traveling eastbound on US-80 when the vehicle went off the south side of the roadway and struck a tree. Judge Mike Smith pronounced the unrestrained driver dead at the scene. They transported his body to Meadowbrook Funeral Home in Marshall.

Friday (May 25) at 2:32 pm, Troopers responded to a two-vehicle fatal crash on IH-20, ten miles east of Lindale. A 2017 Nissan Altima, driven by Victor Leonard Watson, 59, of Pensacola FL., was traveling westbound on IH-20 in the left lane while a 2016 International truck tractor is towing a semi-trailer, driven by Wayne Maxwell Combee, 64, of Lakeland FL. Combee was traveling west in the right lane. Watson failed to operate in a single path. He traveled partially off the left side of the roadway before overcorrecting to the right across the left and right eastbound lanes. The truck tractor struck the Altima in the right lane of IH-20.

As a result of the crash, paramedics transported Watson to ETMC-Tyler in stable condition. A passenger in the vehicle, identified as Frank Watson, 62, of Tampa FL., was also transported to ETMC-Tyler in critical condition. Judge Cowart pronounced another passenger, identified as Darla McCloud Watson, 62, of Tampa FL., dead at the scene. They transported her body to Hillard Funeral Home in Van. Not injured in the crash was Combee.

Friday afternoon at 1:23 Mt Pleasant First Responders worked a major accident in the 2500-block of W. Ferguson. Multiple vehicles were involved. No information on serious injuries, however, one person requested an ambulance. At 3:00 pm first responders were called out to the 153-mile marker west of Mt Pleasant at the Franklin County line.
