Victims Of Fatal Crash Identified

car-accident

Tuesday morning around 7:30, troopers responded to a two-vehicle fatal crash on Hwy-64 in Rusk County just south of the Smith County line. A pickup truck traveling northbound on Hwy-64 stopped to make a left turn.  A Chevrolet Z71 pickup truck driven by Cassidy Massey, 21, and a child passenger, Ryder L. Frizzell, age five, was also traveling northbound and came upon the stopped vehicle. Massey attempted to pass the stopped pickup on the right, but lost control, crossing into the southbound lane of travel and overcorrecting back to the right. A Dodge Ram pickup, driven by Jermaine Gardner, 32, of Tyler, was traveling south on Hwy-64 and struck the Chevrolet in the driver side doors. Judge Childress pronounced both dead at the scene. Officials took their bodies to Crawford Crim Funeral Home in Henderson.
