Fatal Crash In Van Zandt County

Saturday (Sep 3) at approximately 11:00 am, Troopers responded to a one vehicle fatal crash on IH-20 in Van Zandt County about five miles south of the city of Wills Point. The preliminary crash investigation revealed that a 2004 Ford Explorer was traveling eastbound on IH-20 in the left lane. The driver of the vehicle drove into the right lane and then off the south side of the roadway. The driver then overcorrected to the left and overturned the vehicle. The vehicle came to rest on its roof, partially on the road facing north.

Authorities identified the driver and sole occupant as Lester Wills, 57, of Dallas. Judge Ronnie Daniell pronounced Wills dead and had his body taken to the Dallas County M.E. office.
