Father Gets Life In Murders Committed By Son

A court convicted a North Texas man of capital murder in the fatal shooting of three teenagers by the man’s then-14-year-old son. A jury sentenced 34-year-old Richard Acosta of Garland to life without parole because prosecutors did not seek the death penalty. Texas law allows a court to charge accomplices even if they did not commit the crime. The son, Abel Acosta, disappeared after the shooting, and he remains at large.
