Federal Report Shows Texas Power Grid Not Ready For Extreme Weather

An assessment by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission shows the Texas electricity grid remains almost as vulnerable to extreme winter weather as it was during a prolonged deep freeze in February 2021. In addition, the report says the ability of the ERCOT grid to handle harsh winter is only marginally better. State utility regulators, however, contend the analysis is flawed. The Public Utility Commission said ERCOT has called on the agency to correct the report.
