First Lady Cecilia Abbott Addresses Annual Irving Salvation Army Super Lunch

First Lady Cecilia Abbott today attended the annual Salvation Army Super Lunch in Irving, where she recognized the Salvation Army for their community outreach programs in Irving, including the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club, and thanked local citizens and civic and business leaders for their continuing generous donations of volunteer hours and much-needed funding. The First Lady also spoke about her signature Texanthropy initiative and the importance of volunteer service in Texas.

“I believe that we are each called to serve,” said First Lady Abbott. “That’s why my top priority is encouraging Texans to give back through volunteerism and service. That service may simply be sharing a warm smile or a warm meal. That service may be sharing a few extra hours or a few extra dollars. But that service is such a meaningful gift.

“The boys and girls you help today are the difference makers of tomorrow. The Governor and I wish that all of the children of Texas have that chance to make a difference. With the good works of the Salvation Army and your generous support, we can make that happen.
