Former East Texas Jailer Fired, Arrested

Liberty County

A former Liberty County Jailer has been arrested for allegedly stealing cash from inmates that they turned over during booking. Officials arrested 23-year old Mayra Gallegos-Balderas for theft of property and freed on a personal recognizance bond. The jail is privately operated by the GEO Group.
