Former East Texas Lawman Guilty Of Capital Murder

A former East Texas law enforcement officer has been convicted of capital murder for killing  Little River-Academy police Chief Lee Dixon in 2014.  Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty for David Gene Risner in the punishment phase of his trial. Risner previously worked as a police officer in Edgewood, Gun Barrel City and Grand Saline. He also worked for the Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office.
