The former superintendent of the now-shut down Grant Goodland Public Schools in Choctaw County has been sentenced to nine years in federal prison and ordered to pay over $1-million restitution. Authorities charged 55-year-old Buck Hammers with writing fake checks to embezzle federal funds from the district. The thefts occurred from 2010-2016. Hammer’s deputy treasurer, Pam Keeling, committed suicide after she and Hammer were suspended by the school district.
