Former Mesquite Officer Derick Wiley Found Not Guilty Of Aggravated Assault

A former Mesquite Police Officer has been found not guilty of aggravated assault for shooting an unarmed man twice in the back as he was fleeing from the officer. Derick Wiley was fired by the department after the 2017 shooting that wounded Lyndo Jones. Authorities say Wiley mistook Jones for a burglar while Jones was trying to unlock his own truck.
