Friday Night Lights Tonight Plus Rangers Lose 7th Straight

It’s week five of the Texas High School Football season, with some teams beginning district play tonight.
Paris – The Prairiland Patriots open up 6-3A Division II play on the road against the Cooper Bulldogs. The game will be carried live on KOYN 93.9. The Paris Wildcats finish up non-district play at home against Argyle on 101.9 KBUS, while the North Lamar Panthers visit the Canton Eagles on MIX 107.7. The Chisum Mustangs are at home for a district game against S&S Consolidated. Rivercrest visits Alba-Golden. Honey Grove goes to Cumby. Detroit welcomes in James Bowie and the Clarksville Tigers host Jefferson. Games kick off at 7:30 tonight.
MP – The Mt Pleasant Tigers kick off 16-5A play at Sam Parker Field against the Hallsville Bobcats with the game carried live on KLAKE 97.7. The Pittsburg Pirates will be the featured STAR game of the week on 96.9 as they welcome in the Tatum Eagles. The Rivercrest Rebels look to remain undefeated when they visit Alba-Golden. The Paul Pewitt Brahmas take to the road to visit Ore City. The Hughes Springs Mustangs go to Garrison and the Mt Vernon Tigers are at Grand Saline. Games kick off at 7:30 tonight. The Daingerfield Tigers have the week off.
SS – The Sulphur Springs Wildcats are back at new Prim Stadium to welcome in the Pine Tree Pirates for the 16-5A opener. The game will be carried live on STAR 95.9. The Lone Oak Buffalo visit Bonham. The Cooper Bulldogs bring in the Prairiland Patriots to Bulldog Stadium. The Cumby Trojans play host to the Honey Grove Warriors. The Winnsboro Raiders are at home against Quitman. The Commerce Tigers bring Farmersville to Memorial Stadium. The Mt Vernon Tigers hit the road for Grand Saline and the Como-Pickton Eagles are at Wolfe City. Games tonight kickoff at 7:30.
Last night the Texas Rangers drop their seventh straight game, falling to the Oakland Athletics, 4-1. The lone Ranger run came on a Drew Robinson RBI single in the fifth inning. Texas and Oakland continue their series tonight at Globe Life Park in Arlington. First pitch [on KPLT 1490am and 96.3fm] is set for 7:05.
The Dallas Cowboys look to build on last weeks victory when they take on the LA Rams at AT&T Stadium. The Cowboys have a 2-1 record on the season. Dallas will be looking for carryover from a stellar defensive performance that produced six sacks. A Category Dallas Defensive End Demarcus Lawrence leads the league in. The Green Bay Packers beat the Chicago Bears last night on Monday Night Football, 35-14. While in the college ranks the University of Texas wins their Big 12 opener against Iowa State, 17-7.
