San Diego Padres set off two rockets to pass the St. Louis Cardinals 11-9. That forced a deciding Game 3 in their NL wild-card series.

The Atlanta Braves eliminated Cincinnati’s playoff hopes in two games and 22 innings. The New York Yankees swatted the Cleveland Indians to one side. Houston bounced the Minnesota Twins, and the up-and-coming Toronto Blue Jays were pushed aside by the Tampa Bay Rays. The Milwaukee Brewers had their season end after a 3-0 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Next up for Houston will be the Athletics in Game 1 Monday.

NFL
Quarterback Sam Darnold left the New York Jets team last night against Denver late in the first quarter. Alexander Johnson nailed him. He returned to the game, but Denver won 37-28.

The NFL postponed Sunday’s game in Nashville after one additional Titans player, and one personnel member tested positive for COVID-19.

Dallas is waiting to take on the Browns Sunday at noon after losing two and winning one.
