Friday’s Sports

MLB
The Atlanta Braves shutout the Marlins 7-0 Thursday and lead the series 3-0 and are No. 1 in the NL East. Houston did not have a problem with the Athletics beating them 11-6, and the Astros have a 3-1 lead and are second in the AL West to advance. The Yankees tied their series up 2-2 after winning over the Rays 5-1. The Los Angeles Dodgers lead 3-0 with a 12-3 victory over the Padres, and they are No. 1 in the NL West.

The Dodgers have their fourth postseason series against Atlanta, which swept Miami in the other NLDS played about four hours away in Houston. Houston’s fourth consecutive AL Championship Series begins Monday in San Diego against either the New York Yankees or Tampa Bay Rays.

NFL
They told Tennessee players they could not gather together for any in-person activities either at the club’s facility or elsewhere a day before several Titans worked out at a private school. The NFL closed both the Tennessee and Minnesota facilities Sept. 29. The Titan’s outbreak increased to 23 Thursday.

Baylor University suspended all football-related activities to further evaluate recent positive tests for COVID-19 and complete close-contact tracing. The Bears are taking all possible precautions and focusing on playing the scheduled game with Oklahoma State at McLane Stadium on Oct. 17.
