MLB

The Atlanta Braves turned things around in a hurry. They are now one win from ending a two-decade World Series drought. It was Atlanta 10 and the Dodgers 2 in Game 4 Thursday.

Houston is holding on with a 4-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays Thursday. Tampa Bay is 3-2, and the Astros are 2-3 entering Game 6i at 5:07 today.

NFL

The Atlanta Falcons shut their facility Thursday after a new positive test for COVID. The team remains scheduled to play at Minnesota Sunday. 

NCAA

East Texas Baptist University in Marshal will be the host for the NCAA Division III National Softball Championship in 2023. The college will increase seating before the May 25 start date.

HIGH SCHOOL

Last weekend, Marshall’s senior quarterback Brent Burris threw for 492 yards setting a single-game passing record. The Mavericks beat McKinney North 48-22 and start the district next Friday against Pine Tree. 

Mt Pleasant ISD has moved to online ticketing for all home events starting Monday (Oct 19). You can access tickets at www.mpisd.net/athletic-tickets. The following events will be on sale for next week:

Monday (Oct 19), 7th-grade football vs. Hallsville

Friday (Oct 23), MPHS Volleyball vs. Sulphur Springs

Friday (Oct 23), MPHS Varsity football vs. Texas High

There is a limit of four tickets per person for varsity football games allowing access to all who wish to attend. Mt Pleasant will not sell tickets at the gate the night of the event. Guests must purchase tickets in advance.

As of Thursday, there was not a decision on Sulphur Springs making good its games. Now the first district game against Crandall is on the back burner.
