Stephen F. Austin defeated North American 77-0 on Thursday night in the season opener. The game went to five-minute quarters in the second half after the Lumberjacks led by 70 at halftime. FCS Stephen F. Austin scored touchdowns on 11 consecutive drives and outgained its NAIA opponent by a total yardage margin of 675-40.

The Texas A&M University-Commerce soccer team is back at home this weekend. It will host two crucial matches against regional opponents, welcoming North Texas and Tarleton. North Texas is in Commerce on Friday at 7:00 pm, and Tarleton arrives for a 7:00 pm start on Sunday.

VOLLEYBALL

The 2024 Lion’s volleyball season starts this weekend with the Lion Invitational on the Hunt Regional Healthcare Court inside the Field House. Game 1 is Friday afternoon at 1:00 against Little Rock. At 7:00 pm Friday, the Lions take on Central Arkansas, and on Saturday, Tarleton at 3:00 pm.

FOOTBALL

The National Football Foundation (NFF) and the College of Football Hall of Fame released a list of 3,568 student-athletes who have already earned their undergraduate degrees and will be playing college football this fall across the country, which is a new record. The Lions have 21 graduates on the 2024 roster.
