A 17-0 stretch is all that the East Texas A&M University women’s basketball needed to pick up a 67-51 win on the road at the McNeese Cowgirls on Thursday evening at the Legacy Center. The Lions snapped an eight-game losing streak with the win over the Cowgirls, improving to 5-16 overall and 2-10 in SLC action. McNeese falls to 8-15 overall and 3-9 against SLC opponents.

SOFTBALL

The 2025 season for the East Texas A&M University softball team begins on Friday afternoon. The Lady Lions are hosting at the John Cain Family Softball Complex. Game 1 is South Dakota at 4:30 pm (ESPN+). The nightcap is at 7:00 pm on Saturday, in South Dakota at 4:30 pm, and Texas Southern at 7:00 pm on Sunday at 7:00 pm. Texas Southern.

The East Texas A&M University track & field teams head back to College Station this weekend to participate in the Charlie Thomas Invitational at the Fasken Indoor Track & Field Facility.

HIGH SCHOOL

Four Mount Pleasant High School athletes signed Letters of Intent to continue their athletic careers in college on Wednesday, National Signing Day. Henderson State University is getting Shane Watkins, Jonathan Amieva is going to Kilgore, Juymil Lewis to Brevard (bru-VAARD), and Reggie Webster is landing at Harding University.

The Mount Pleasant Junior High eighth-grade girls’ basketball team won the district championship on Monday, February 3. They went 7-0 in district play and 13-1 overall.
