They postponed two Baylor men’s basketball games due to Big 12 Conference interruption guidelines.

TAMUC

The league Thursday named Texas A&M University-Commerce senior Sydney Anderson the Lone Star Conference volleyball defensive player of the week.

The Texas A&M University-Commerce women’s basketball team has rescheduled its home contest against Cameron University in the Field House at 3:00 pm for Tuesday. The Lions were 89-71 winners in the game played in Lawton earlier this season.

Texas A&M-Commerce women’s basketball took the No. 10 Lions to a 77-54 victory over Texas Women’s team Thursday. The Lions move to 9-1 overall and 9-0 in the Lone Star Conference.

The men’s basketball team fell behind No. 15 Dallas Baptist University early in the second half and lost 76-71 Thursday evening. The Lions move to 5-4 overall and 4-3 in the Lone Star Conference.

The league’s head coaches and directors of sports information announced Thursday that East Texas Baptist and Mary Hardin-Baylor softball would win the 2021 American Southwest Conference East and West Divisions. They picked LeTourneau second in the East Division with 102 points and a first-place vote.

NTCC

Northeast Texas Community College traveled to Hillsboro on Wednesday, earning a win in game one 5-4, while Hill College took game two of the series by a score of 4-2. Emily Cole (Pewitt High School) picked up her first win of the season, striking out nine on her way to the 5-4 victory. Averie Ayers (Mount Pleasant HS) would get the save in the game one win.

HIGH SCHOOL

North Lamar has canceled the JV boys’ soccer scheduled for Friday at 5:30 pm. The Varsity game will still start at 6:00 pm instead of 7:15.

The Mt Pleasant Tigers wrap up district play at Hallsville on Friday. Game changes have the freshmen at 5:00 pm in the auxiliary gym, JV at 5:30 in the main gym, and Varsity at 7:00 pm.

Sulphur Springs Wildcats take on Texas High at 8:00 pm. The Lady Cats are waiting for a decision out of District 16-5A to know their next challenge. It could be either Nacogdoches or Lufkin.

In 4A, Gilmer is No. 25. In 3A No. 3 is Winnsboro, followed by No. 9 Edgewood, No. 10 Gunter, and No. 13 Chapel Hill MP. 2A has McLeod at No. 24, and 1A No. 1 is Dodd City, followed by No. 5 Saltillo.
