HIGH SCHOOL
The State Executive Committee of the University Interscholastic League met Thursday for an Emergency Meeting to hand down decisions on the eligibility of student-athletes. They denied student-athletes from Crosby and Strawn High Schools an appeal for varsity eligibility, upholding the previous ruling of the district executive committees.
Mt Pleasant’s baseball game Monday (Feb 21) has moved to 1:00 pm for JV and 3:00 for varsity.
They canceled Paris Wildcat Boys’ Soccer game scheduled for Friday (Feb 18) at Wildcat Stadium against Liberty-Eylau. Liberty-Eylau could not participate.
Paris’ Coach Drust added a new Baseball game for Tuesday (Feb 22) vs. Cooper to be played “On the Hill” at 6:00 pm.
Sulphur Springs Softball Tournament at Winnsboro had one game with Pleasant Grove 13 – Commerce 0. It was the first time Sulphur Springs’ Head Coach David Carrillo was able to get a tournament contest played since 2018. Last year it snowed, and the previous two rained out. Today and Saturday, the tournament will be played in three locations, Mt Pleasant, Emory, and Grand Saline, for a total of 33 games.
