Full Slate of HS Softball and Baseball Plus Rangers Win Big in Seattle

Paris – The North Lamar ISD school board unanimously approved Aaron Emeyabbi as the Athletic Director and head football coach of North Lamar High School. Emeyabbi previously held the position at Ferris high school.

A trio of high school baseball and softball games will be aired tonight on our East Texas Broadcasting Stations, including the North Lamar Panthers and Pantherette’s. The North Lamar softball game against Atlanta can be heard on MIX 107.7 beginning at 6pm. The baseball game will be live on KOYN 93.9 at 6:30. Meanwhile, the Paris Wildcats will host the Liberty Eylau Leopards at Hub Hollis Field. First pitch tonight on 101.9 KBUS is scheduled for 7:30. The Chisum Mustangs and Lady Mustangs will travel to take on the New Boston Lions and Lady Lions tonight, while the Prairiland Patriots take on the Cooper Bulldogs on the road.

Mount Pleasant – District high school baseball and softball picks back up tonight for area teams. The Mt. Pleasant Tigers and Lady Tigers look to stay on the playoff pace. The Tigers will host the Sulphur Springs Wildcats this evening at OL Colley Field at 7pm. The Tigers are 4-4 in 15-5A, currently ranked 5th in the district. Meanwhile, Mt. Pleasant softball will travel to take on the Lady Cats. at 8-2 the Lady Tigers are currently in 2nd place in the district. First pitch from the circle tonight is set for 6pm. The Pittsburg Pirates and Lady Pirates will be in Texarkana to take on the Pleasant Grove Hawks. Both games are scheduled for 6. And the Mt. Vernon Lady Tigers will be at home this evening when they welcome in the Paul Pewitt Lady Brahmas at 5:30.

Sulphur Springs – District high school baseball and softball picks back up tonight for area teams. The Sulphur Springs Wildcats and Lady Cats continue their competition against interstate rival Mt. Pleasant to stay on the playoff pace. The Wildcats will visit the Tigers this evening at OL Colley Field at 7pm. Sulphur Springs baseball is 2-6 in district play The Lady Cats are 7-3 in 15-5A, currently ranked 3rd in the district. Lady Cat softball will host the Lady Tigers on the Sulphur Springs high school campus. First pitch from the circle tonight is set for 6pm. The Winnsboro Red Raiders and Lady Raiders will host Mineola with softball beginning at 4:30. Baseball starts at 7. And the Mt. Vernon Lady Tigers will be at home this evening when they welcome in the Paul Pewitt Lady Brahmas at 5:30.

Last night in Major League Baseball the Texas Rangers bats come alive as they take game one over the Seattle Mariners ….. Roogie Odor drove in three runs while Colby Lewis was rewarded the win on the mound going six innings and giving up one run on four hits and striking out six. The Rangers improve to 4-4 on the young season. They’ll play game two of three on the road this evening [on KPLT 1490am and 96.3fm]. First pitch tonight is scheduled for 9:10pm.

In the NBA the Dallas Mavericks officially clinch a playoff spot following a 101-92 win over the Utah Jazz. The big German, Dirk Nowitzki led the way with a 22 point, 11 rebound double-double. With the victory the Mavs can do no worse than the 7th seed in the Western Conference. Dallas will wrap up the regular season on Wednesday against the Spurs.

And Cleveland Brown and former Baylor Bear Wide Receiver Josh Gordon reportedly once again tested positive for marijuana. Gordon led the NFL in receiving yards in 2013 with over 1,600, but has been suspended since on multiple violations of the leagues substance abuse policy.
