Game Warden Memorial

Nineteen Texas Game Wardens have died in the line of duty. A movement to move the Texas Game Wardens Memorial from Athens to the state capitol is in the home stretch, having passed various legislative and legal hoops. Quint Balkom, formerly Sulphur Springs, is the Texas Game Wardens Peace Officers Association president. He reminds us that a game warden is a Texas peace officer. The game wardens who lost their lives drowned were shot or died in car wrecks over the years.
