Gender Affirming Care Now Considered Abuse

Gender-affirming care for children is now officially referred to as child abuse in Texas. Governor Abbott directs the Department of Family and Protective Services to investigate any reported instances. The official position of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is that sex-change procedures and treatments performed on children can legally constitute child abuse under several provisions of the Texas Family Code. Gender affirming care does have the endorsement of the Texas Psychological Association.
