Girls HS Basketball Playoff Results in Today’s Local Sports

Paris – Girls high school basketball playoffs began last night with the Bi-District round. The 25th ranked Honey Grove Lady Warriors put on a dominating performance, beating Fruitvale 67-20. The Clarksville Lady Tigers advance to the area round with a 54-46 win over Hawkins. North Lamar falls to Gilmer 65-39. 17th ranked Mt. Vernon eliminates Prairiland 66-29. The Detroit Lady Eagles lose to 15th ranked Union Grove 64-29. And the Rivercrest lady rebels go down against McLeod 62-46. Meanwhile, tonight the Cooper Dogette’s take on Queen City at Chapel Hill high school in Mt. Pleasant Tip off is at 6pm this evening.

The Paris Wildcats will be in Atlanta taking on the Rabbits on 101.9 KBUS. North Lamar hosts Pittsburg on MIX 107.7. Chisum is on the road against Hooks.

Mount Pleasant – Girls high school basketball playoffs began last night with the Bi-district round. The 16th ranked Chapel Hill Lady Devils advance to the area round after dominating New Boston 75-33. Chapel Hill will take on Whitewright this weekend. The 17th ranked Mt. Vernon Lady Tigers eliminate Prairiland 66-29. The 7th ranked Winnsboro Lady Raiders beat Farmersville 65-46. The Lady Raiders will play the winner our feature game on Star 96.9 where the Paul Pewitt Lady Brahmas play DeKalb at Mt. Pleasant high school. Tip off is set for 8pm.

On the boys side, district play is coming to a close. The Mt. Pleasant Tigers are on the road against the Texas High Tigers. Chapel Hill is at Linden-Kildare. And Mt. Vernon playas Queen City on the road. Tip off to tonight’s games is set for 7:30.

Sulphur Springs – Girls high school basketball playoffs began last night with the Bi-district round. The 7th ranked Winnsboro Lady Raiders beat Farmersville 65-46. The Lady Raiders will play the winner of the Paul Pewitt Lady Brahmas and DeKalb at Mt. Pleasant high school. And the 17th ranked Mt. Vernon Lady Tigers eliminate Prairiland 66-29. Tonight in class 5A the Sulphur Springs Lady Cats take on Lindale. Should the Lady Cats win, they already know their area round opponent after Mansfield Summit blistered Dallas Samuel 74-29. And Como-Pickton will play Wolfe City tonight.

Meanwhile, district play on the boys side wraps up tonight. Sulphur Springs will finish their season on the road against Marshall. Playoff bound Mt. Vernon will take on Queen City. And Commerce is on the road at Leonard before beginning the post season.]

Last night in the NHL the Dallas Stars finish off the Nashville Predators 3-2 in overtime. John Klingberg sent the puck ahead to Tyler Seguin who set up Mattias Janmark for the game winner in the extra period. The Stars, winners of their 7 out of 8 games, lead the west with 79 points and take on St. Louis tonight at 7pm.

Tomorrow the Major League Baseball pre-season officially begins when the Arizona Diamondbacks Pitchers and Catchers report. For the Texas Rangers, they’ll report Thursday the 18th with first full workouts coming next week.
