Who: All funds raised go directly to the 2018 Boys and Girls Club budget. We are our own largest supporter, and this is our biggest fundraiser of the year, by far. Every penny goes to employee salaries, programs, equipment, even crayons, and band-aids. Since the spring the Club’s attendance has tripled from 65 kids attending daily, to almost 200. We would love it if this auction could be a record-breaking year to help support that growth. We need equipment, staff, toys, and general improvements to continue to provide the service that so many families in our community count on.
What: The 68th annual charity auction will be a fun opportunity to support the Boys and Girls Club through purchasing items and event packages donated by local businesses and community members. The full catalog of items will be available later this week on our facebook and website:
We will have a huge variety of items including “experiences” like Rangers tickets with a Saltgrass Steakhouse gift certificate and a one night hotel stay, several golf packages at local (and not so local) country clubs (Texarkana, Dallas, and Austin), a catered steak dinner for 20 people, several hunting weekends including a south Texas 3 day, 2 night quail hunt for 4 valued at $3000, and lots of sports tickets. Local businesses have also donated a variety of items including a $1000 gift certificate to David House Jewelry, any set of four tires (up to an $800 value) from James Hodge Dodge, a gator hyde bed liner from Scott’s Collision and Repair, a purse and perfume from The Collegiate Shoppe and Paris Fragrances, and of course the steaks, hams, and ribs from David’s Meat Market. (Please feel free to email me if you’d like more examples of auction items).
When: Friday, December 8th at 6pm
Where/How: The auction is open to the public and also available on suddenlink and your radio stations. Viewers and listeners can call in to bid, or bid along online.
