Guilty Plea By Deputy Smith County Constable

A former Smith County Chief Deputy Constable has agreed to a plea bargain with prosecutors concerning Official Oppression. The court sentenced LaQuenda Banks to 18 months of probation. As part of the plea bargain, they dropped a charge of felony theft. Officials accused Banks and two other officers of stealing from a home while executing an eviction.
